DEADBEAT SUPERHEROES (DBS) READY TO START TRANSMISSION OF THE FOUR SINGLES MAKING UP THE “KALEIDOSCOPE” EP

After over two years of writing, arranging, recording, mixing, engineering, and finally mastering … Deadbeat Superheroes is happy to announce the release of the “Kaleidoscope” EP!

In January 2024, DBS songwriter/guitarist, Vikas Sharma started the songwriting process - and after about a dozen demos we started the selection process.

Bassist, Darren Vanstone, took the initial demos and started to flesh them out based on the mood that singer, Julie Sun Lee, was looking to put out there.

The writing year had a lot of intensity in the arranging process - so by the time we took it to Producer, Marek David, it had some pretty solid bones.

Fast forward another year, guitarist Vikas Sharma had some hijinks in the studio (not once, but twice) and lead guitarist, Skutch Tully, really put himself out there.

We had the privilege of hosting two amazing drummers on this record - Taylor Charles, who played on our last EP, and Riley O'Connor, who performed with DBS live in Toronto back in 2023.

The final product is different than anything we've ever done before.

We hope you love it.

Press releases going out soon.

Watch for us wherever you steam music.

Peace.

DEADBEAT SUPERHEROES (DBS) STARTS RECORDING THE “KALEIDOSCOPE” EP WITH “THE CAPTAIN” MAREK DAVID

The team is super-excited to have started work with the “fifth member” of Deadbeat Superheroes, producer, engineer, and arranger extraordinaire, Marek David.

We've got four songs slated for this EP - the title track “Kaleidoscope” being very different than anything we've done before.

Influences from the post-punk era … a bit of goth … a bit of Giorgio … we can't wait for you to hear it - hopefully before the end of the summer!

Taylor Charles, who played drums on the Edmonton EP is back on the kit!

Look out!

DEADBEAT SUPERHEROES (DBS) FINISHING UP DEMOS FOR UPCOMING, UNTITLED EP

Canadian pop rockers, Deadbeat Superheroes are getting close to completing a first-round of demos to select the top three or four to create a new, yet untitled, EP for 2024!

Guitarist/songwriter, Vikas Sharma, has been working with bassist Darren Vanstone and singer/violinist, Julie Sun Lee, to put the wheels in motion on the next record. There should be a dozen completed by end of May - and then the selection process and digging-in takes place.

“We'll be passing on the tracks to guitarist, Skutch Tully and producer, Marek David, for further thoughts and we're hoping to have an EP out by the end of the year,” said Sharma.

DEADBEAT SUPERHEROES (DBS) TEAMS UP WITH HORNETS! TO RELEASE A REDUXED VERSION OF ITS EDMONTON EP

Canadian musical outfit, Deadbeat Superheroes is extremely proud to have artist HORNETS! remix their Edmonton EP, which was released earlier this year to awesome reviews and international airplay.

Edmonton, originally produced by veteran engineer Marek David, has taken on a whole new life under the vision of HORNETS!

HORNETS! is a collaboration between the awkwardness of a mid life crisis and a laptop.

Deadbeat Superheroes is about to enter into its 13th year of existence in early 2024.

The tracks and release dates for Edmonton (Reduxed) are:

“Shangri-La (redux)”
“Blind Luminescence (redux)”
“Silo (redux)”
“Silo MK2 (redux)”
“By The Side Of The Road (redux)”

This outing takes Deadbeat Superheroes out to a musical landscape that embarks on a quest of further discovery through the vision of HORNETS! As with the original release, each track stands firmly on its own.

The EP was mastered by Peter Letros at Wreckhouse Mastering (Toronto, ON).

DEADBEAT SUPERHEROES (DBS) RELEASES ITS FOURTH EP. EDMONTON

Canadian musical outfit, Deadbeat Superheroes, has released it’s fourth EP, titled Edmonton; it is available on all music streaming platforms effectively immediately.

The 12-year-old band, which formed in Toronto, worked with veteran producer Marek David (Queens of the Stone Age, Dr. Dre, Sheryl Crow) to Arrange, Engineer, and Produce Edmonton, a collection of four songs (all written by Deadbeat Superheroes):

  1. “Shangri-La” (4:12)
  2. “Blind Luminescence” (3:46)
  3. “Silo” (3:30)
  4. “By The Side Of The Road” (3:54)

This is the first DBS recording to feature new vocalist, Julie Sun Lee, who has performed with the band on violin for the past seven years.

Julie Sun Lee is a virtuoso violinist, singer, and songwriter in her own right, and has worked with DBS bandleader, Vikas Sharma over the past 16 years in DBS and other projects.

This outing takes Deadbeat Superheroes back to a strong, 80’s-inspired sound with everything from the Brian Eno-tinged delayed guitars in “By The Side Of The Road,” or the Nile Rogers-esque compressed beats and production on “Blind Luminescence,” all the way to the synth-heavy pop sound that dominated the airwaves in 1987 in “Shangri-la.”

Each track stands firmly on its own.

Everyone who performed on the Edmonton EP is excited about its release and are all super-proud of their performances on the record. The EP was mastered by Peter Letros at Wreckhouse Mastering (Toronto, ON).

We invite you to indulge in the Edmonton EP and look forward to hearing from you regarding airplay and/or interviews.
